This Cookie Policy supplements the Privacy Policy of Patai GmbH and applies to the website patai.legal.

It explains which cookies and similar technologies we use, for what purposes, and what choices you have.

The platform app.patai.legal uses no analytics or marketing cookies, only the cookies technically required for signing in.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device that contain information which may be processed when you visit a website.

In addition to cookies, we use similar technologies such as your browser's local storage or tracking pixels. The same rules apply to them as to cookies.

3. Categories and Services Used

In the cookie banner, you can allow or decline each category individually.

a) Necessary

These entries are required for the website to work. They cannot be switched off. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the technical operation of the website.

  • cookie-preferences (local storage): stores your choice in the cookie banner. Kept until you delete it in your browser.
  • patai-theme (local storage): stores whether you prefer the light or dark display of the website. Kept until you delete it in your browser.

b) Statistics

Only with your consent. We analyse how the website is used, for example which pages are viewed and for how long.

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland; Google LLC, USA): cookies _ga and ga…, stored for up to 2 years.

c) Marketing

Only with your consent. We measure whether visits via our advertisements lead to a registration (conversion measurement) and show our advertisements again to previous visitors of the website (remarketing).

  • Google Ads (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland; Google LLC, USA): cookie _gcl_au, stored for 90 days.
  • Microsoft Advertising with Universal Event Tracking (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Ireland; Microsoft Corporation, USA): cookies _uetsid (1 day), _uetvid and MUID (each up to 13 months).

d) Functional

We do not currently use this category. If a corresponding service is added, we will list it here.

4. How We Implement Consent

The services in the Statistics and Marketing categories are integrated via Google Tag Manager. The Tag Manager itself is only loaded once you have allowed Statistics or Marketing. Without your consent, none of these services is loaded and no corresponding cookie is set.

If you only allow Statistics, we additionally tell Google and Microsoft that Marketing is not allowed (Consent Mode). The advertising services then set no cookies.

With these services, data may be transferred to Google or Microsoft in the USA. Further information can be found in our Privacy Policy and in the providers' privacy policies:

5. Consent and Withdrawal

When you first visit our website, we ask you via a cookie banner which categories you want to allow. You can allow all, decline all or choose individually.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the website footer. Withdrawal takes effect for the future. You can also delete cookies that have already been set in your browser settings.

6. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We amend this Cookie Policy if legal requirements or the technologies used change. The current version is always available on this website.
